“Committed to ensuring academic success and a safe and orderly environment for everyone”
Built in 1954, Lawrence High School sits on 40 acres of land located in south central Lawrence. To accommodate the city’s growing population, Lawrence High School replaced the former Liberty Memorial High School. Eventually, LHS became the largest Class 6A high school in Kansas. This growth created the need for a second high school in Lawrence, so in 1997 Lawrence Free State High School opened. Lawrence High School serves approximately 1,344 students in grades 10-12. As a cluster site, Lawrence High provides English as a Second Language services to high-school age English Language Learners.
