Community involvement is one of the keys to the success of the Lawrence Public Schools. Our schools enjoy active parent participation in classrooms, parent-teacher organizations, site councils, student clubs and other activities. It's not uncommon for Lawrence elementary schools to see 100% participation at parent-teacher conference time.

Private citizens, businesses, and organizations contribute financially to the Lawrence Schools Foundation to support high-quality early childhood education and to enrich the education provided all students in the Lawrence Public Schools. The local business community also helps our schools prepare students for their futures by providing volunteers and in-kind resources to schools through the Lawrence Education Achievement Partners program.

Educating children is a big job; schools can't do it alone. Lawrence Public Schools appreciate the community's involvement in making sure all students receive an excellent education.  We believe that everybody benefits from great public schools.

 

USD 497 Salutes School Volunteers! 

The Lawrence Public Schools and the Lawrence Education Association annually recognize outstanding school volunteers during American Education Week. Each school and the school district selects a Friend of Education to honor. Our "Friends" represent all of the wonderful school volunteers who support our students and staff throughout the school year. We appreciate your involvement!

Lawrence Schools Foundation

The Lawrence Schools Foundation is committed to enriching the education provided to all students by the Lawrence Public Schools. Through the generation and management of gifts, we seek to promote and enhance:

  • a strong relationship between our community and the Lawrence Public Schools
  • innovative teaching-learning opportunities, the recognition of teachers, and development of staff
  • effective early childhood programs
  • recognition and encouragement of student achievements

The Lawrence Education Achievement Partners (LEAP) program establishes mutually beneficial partnerships between community businesses, organizations and schools that enrich learning by sharing knowledge, time and resources. Partnership activities are tailored to the needs and resources of each school and organization or business.
